To provide full support in the Dillon Marina infrastructure and service, in the absence of the Operations Managers.
Overview
The Marina Operations Supervisor is a key member of the marina team, providing support to the Operations Managers in the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and safety of all marina docks, infrastructure, and utility systems in a private, member-focused freshwater environment. This role balances hands-on technical work, team supervision, and high-touch customer service for slip holders.
They must possess strong and enthusiastic leadership qualities and be able to assist in and delegate responsibilities to marina office staff as needed. This individual must possess a high level of knowledge of all the marina products, services and software, and be able to communicate them to employees and marina customers in a helpful and friendly manner.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. Some college education or trade school related courses preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills required.
- Ability to communicate with team via a two-way radio professionally.
- Previous supervisory experience required. Previous management experience preferred.
- High proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, Fareharbor, and Scribble Software preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying roles. Point of Sale, superior cash handling and organizational skills preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to work independently and with a team to accomplish set goals.
- Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, and timely manner both verbally and written when dealing with Town of Dillon Employees, citizens, customers, and vendors.
- Knowledge of standard safety precautions both on and off the water.
- Current Red Cross CPR/AED certified- training provided.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to perform essential job functions.
- Local sailing experience preferred.
- Must be a strong swimmer.
- Good working knowledge of powerboats, work barges, and sailboat operations.
- Previous experience in marina operations and/or marina use.
- Must possess strong problem-solving skills and an ability to adapt to changing marina needs due to weather.
- Provide support to all other marina departments as needed and as assigned by marina management.
- Knowledge of general boat handling, mooring and docking practices applicable to the operation is preferred.
- Hauling/Launching and general Boatyard experience preferred.
- Knowledge of sailboat standing and running rigging and construction preferred.
- Working knowledge of wood, fiberglass repair and marine painting applications preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and 12 volt electrical systems.
- Ability to safely operate trailers, tractors, trucks, front end loader, skid steer, hand and power tools.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be comfortable with heights.
- Sewing experience preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs+, bend, climb, and work on docks over water.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain floating and/or fixed docks, slips, gangways, anchors, and mooring systems.
- Monitor seasonal impacts (freeze/thaw cycles, water level change.)
- Coordinate seasonal installation and removal of gangways and the placement of docks for winter (if applicable).
- Perform minor repairs and oversee larger structural work.
- Maintain detailed inspection logs and maintenance records and utilities & marina systems.
- Oversee freshwater dock utilities: electrical pedestals, potable water lines, lighting systems.
- Coordinate pump-out services and ensure proper operation.
- Troubleshoot common issues (tripped breakers, leaks, pedestal damage.)
- Schedule preventative maintenance before peak boating season.
- Enforce marina safety rules and operational policies for members and guests.
- Conduct routine dock safety inspections (trip hazards, electrical safety, structural wear.)
- Ensure compliance with local/state environmental and boating regulations.
- Maintain spill response kits and basic emergency readiness (fuel, minor leaks.)
- Supervise a small team (dockhands/maintenance staff, often seasonal.)
- Assign daily tasks including cleaning, repairs, and inspections.
- Train staff on safety, customer interaction, and marina procedures.
- Provide hands-on support during busy periods.
- spring commissioning (dock install, utility activation, inspections.)
- Oversee peak-season readiness and rapid issue response.
- Coordinate fall winterization (dock removal if required, water shutoff, equipment storage.)
- Plan off-season maintenance and improvements.
- Coordinate local contractors for specialized work (dock repair, electrical, shoreline work.)
- Schedule and oversee work to minimize disruption to members.
- Ensure quality and completion of contracted projects.
- Provide assistance to Operations Manager with work orders and point of sale.
- Provide supervision for staff in the absence of Marina Operations Manager.
- Prompt attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
- Provide assistance and leadership to staff with all marina events.
- Obtain advanced knowledge of work order procedures and service rates and provide assistance to customers throughout the process.
- Supervise and assist in the opening and closing procedures for marina.
- Obtain and maintain aquatic nuisances species certification.
- Evaluate suppliers to achieve cost-effective deals and maintain trust relationships. Collaborate with warehouse employees and other staff to ensure business goals.
- Maintain a perpetual parts inventory and ensure product stock is adequate for all distribution channels and can cover direct demand from customers. Inspect the levels of business supplies and raw material to identify shortages.
- Assist in the development and support of all Marina events.
- Provide support to all other marina departments as needed and as assigned by marina management.
- Provide maintenance and care for marina sailboat fleet, docks, and facilities. Provide maintenance records as needed.
- Repairs and services guests and marina’s boats in accordance with service work order system as well as any other equipment when necessary.
- Completes billing for each job on a daily basis and submits completed work orders to the office for processing.
- Conducts preventative maintenance on all marina equipment, docks, vehicles, vessels, tools, and buildings on a daily, monthly, quarterly or yearly basis and maintains current records for insurance.
- Follows and enforces safety practices, operating rules and regulations at all times. Reports unsafe conditions to management in a timely manner.
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
- Must be able to work with a computer at a desk full-time.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to sun, heat, cold, dust, precipitation, fuel, grease and other conditions and chemicals commonly found in a marina environment.
- Must be capable of operating a variety of equipment, hand tools, power tools and large vehicles. Must be capable of safely maneuvering all vehicles and equipment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office, and moderate to loud while working outside. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, various pieces of office equipment, tools, and vehicles.

The individual frequently is required to stand and talk or hear. The individual is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.
The individual must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, mobile radio, phone, computer, calculator, and copy/fax machine.
