Post Date:01/06/2026 8:00 AM

Are you interested in serving your community as a Dillon Town Council member or Mayor? Candidate packets for the April 7, 2026 municipal election are now available for pick up at Dillon Town Hall. Voters located within Dillon town limits will elect one Mayor and three Town Council members during this election.

Running for local office is a meaningful way to help shape the future of Dillon. To support potential candidates, the Town of Dillon—along with other Summit County towns—hosted a Candidate Information Session on December 11. The recorded session, How to Run 101, is available to watch and provides a helpful overview of the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, as well as the nomination and election process.

Candidate Qualifications
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, have lived in Dillon town limits for at least twelve consecutive months prior to the election, be a registered voter, and meet all legal eligibility requirements.

What’s Included in the Candidate Packet
Candidate packets include nomination petitions and important reference materials. Packets are available at Dillon Town Hall beginning January 6, 2026, at 8 a.m.

Nomination Petitions & Key Deadlines

This excludes unincorporated areas of Dillon Valley, Summerwood, Summit Cove and Keystone.  A registered elector shall not sign more than one (1) nomination petition for a Mayoral Candidate and shall not sign more than three (3) nomination petitions for Town Council candidates. Completed and notarized petitions must be filed with the Town Clerk by 5 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Ballot Order Drawing
The order of candidate names on the ballot will be determined by a public lottery on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 5 p.m. at Dillon Town Hall. The drawing will be recorded and is open to the public.

Compensation & Meetings
The Mayor is compensated $1,400 per month, and Town Council members receive $750 per month. Town Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., with work sessions typically beginning at 4:30 p.m.
