Countywide Town Cleanup Day

Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. to noon

Post Date:05/28/2026 9:15 AM

As winter’s snowpack melts away across Summit County, a season’s worth of forgotten mittens, abandoned dog waste bags and roadside litter begins to emerge — signaling it’s time once again for the Annual Countywide Town Cleanup Day.

The towns of Blue River, Breckenridge, Dillon, Keystone, Frisco and Silverthorne are inviting residents and visitors to roll up their sleeves and help prepare Summit County for summer on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

Volunteer check-in begins at 9 a.m. at designated locations in each community. In Dillon, volunteers will gather at Dillon Town Hall, located at 275 Lake Dillon Drive, where participants will receive trash bags, gloves, cleanup assignments, coffee and morning refreshments before heading out into town.

Dillon volunteers will focus on high-visibility community areas including parks, trails, neighborhoods, roadways and shoreline areas surrounding the Dillon Reservoir. Participants are also welcome to choose their own cleanup locations if they know of areas in need of extra attention.

Town officials encourage residents, families, local businesses and community groups to participate in the annual tradition, which helps beautify public spaces ahead of the busy summer tourism season. Cleanup efforts in Dillon play an important role in maintaining the town’s parks, marina corridors, recreation paths and waterfront areas that serve both residents and visitors throughout the year.

Following the morning cleanup, volunteers in each town will be thanked with a zero-waste appreciation picnic held at the Marina Park Pavilion. Participants are encouraged to bring reusable coffee mugs and water bottles to support the countywide sustainability effort.

Additional volunteer gathering locations include:

  • Blue River Town Hall
  • Breckenridge Riverwalk Center
  • Frisco Historic Park
  • Keystone Neighborhood Company offices at 1628 Sts. John Road
  • Rainbow Park in Silverthorne

The cleanup effort is supported by Summit County Resource Allocation Park (SCRAP) and the High Country Conservation Center (HC3), which are again partnering with local municipalities to help residents responsibly dispose of hard-to-recycle and hazardous household items. In conjunction with Cleanup Day, Summit County will host a free drive-through recycling and disposal event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at the Summit Stage Bus Barn, 0222 County Shops Road next to the County Commons in Frisco. Accepted items include electronics, textiles, pharmaceuticals and household hazardous waste. For a full list of accepted materials and additional information, visit HighCountryConservation.org or call (970) 668-5703.
